Time to cool off!

Summer is almost over but it is still soooo hot here in southern Louisiana. This muggy heat from all the rain we've been getting is making me itch for a vacation!

Here is something to help everyone cool off in all this heat. In the picture the colors look orange because of the neon yellow I used for a mat, but I promise it is yellow. After all nothing cools you off like a nice cold glass of fresh lemonade.

Challenges I'd like to enter:

Christmas Note Cards

I must have been really inspired today! Here are two present looking Christmas note cards I made. The bows are made of paper using Kathleen Stamps' tutorial I do not have the Stampin' up products she used so I just used my Cricut to cut out the ovals and swallow tails. I also used my Cricut to cut out the tag. The faux stitching on the paper "ribbons" was made using a white marker, though as I keep looking at them I should have used my stitching runner thingamabob to do real stitching. Maybe on the next ones. The sentiments on the tags are embossed using Snow powder.

Snuggling Snow-Couple Easel Card

I fell in love with this stamp last year when I saw it on clearance! I'm so excited to have finally made a card with it. I used black detail embossing powder to emboss the stamp on white card stock, then fussy cut it out to add to a 5x5 easel card. I'm also finally being able to use my cricut, though I'm already pouting at the husband to get me a Silhouette Cameo instead, but it will do for now. But back to the card, I cut the inner tag with the cricut basic shapes and used foamies to raise it to hold open the card. The white snowflakes are brads I had from last year that I cut off the brad pieces and just glued them down.

Quilled Poinsetta Card

In my efforts to be ready for Christmas this year, I'm already designing this years cards I will be selling on etsy. This is what I've come up with today:

I used a faux tile inking technique for the background and simply stamped the sentiment. The sentiment is stamped in three different colors (I didn't like the first two). I also quilled the poinsettia in three shades of red to give it some beautiful depth.

Challenges I'd like to enter this into:

ABC Challenge - R for roses are red. It isn't a rose but there is a lot of red going on in this card.

Birdcage and flower card

I finally used the Tim Holtz die I've been having since before Christmas. This is what I came up with:

I made the cloud background myself with a template I cut myself and two different shades of blue ink. I distressed the blue bird die cut with the darker of the two inks I used to make the clouds. And of course the little flower is quilled with a little button center.

Everyone Loves Legos!

Yes.. everyone loves legos. Especially my little nephew, though this card is more toward a girl with all the pink.

I used my cricut mini to cut out the birthday tag and letters. I also cheated and used it to cut out the dots for the legos, since I didn't have a 1/2" circle punch.

This was created for Color Throwdown #250 - 5 yr anniversary

Monogram quilled door hanger

I know I haven't been posting or entering any challenges lately but I unfortunately still don't have Internet.

I recently received a custom order for a quilled door hanger. The letter is 9.5" tall and has a mdf base. The customer wanted neon colors, lol the only bad thing was I had the worse headache the entire time I was quilling the colored strips. I think I'm going to add a large quilled butterfly to give it a 3d pop.

CAS Thank you card

Be Mine Valentine Card

In the spirit of the upcoming holiday, here is a Valentine card. The teddy image is from Meljen's Designs and I decoupaged it. Decoupaging my digi stamps is alittle new so I just did the best I could. The stamp is set on a lattice background and framed at the bottom with small roses I made with square pieces of paper. The roses are a new technique I was trying out, hope you enjoy them.

Wedding Rings Card

I'd been wanting to make this card for a while but I kept getting sidetracked by all the challenges I keep creating for. So what luck it was for Cute Card Thursday to do a Diamond challenge. For this card I scored the lattice work with my scoring board and then placed tiny adhesive gems at the intersections. The rings are made from metallic gold quilling paper and I used silver glitter glue on the quilled diamond. And for alittle bit of color I added quilled rose vines.

Baby Girl Teddy Card

So my mom needed a card for someone having a baby girl. I really loved the baby boy teddy card I made so I modified it to better suit a little girl. Instead of quilled safety pins and rattles I made quilled purple flowers with little button centers.

Orchid Wedding Card

I'm still practicing quilling scrolls so the scrolls on this card arent the greatest, but I am loving these quilled orchids. I may have to see about selling them as embellishments in my store soon. The love bird stamp is from Sliekje Digi Stamps.

Orchid Card

YAY, I learned to quill orchids! LOL.

Here is a lovely card that I originally meant for it to be a sympathy card but it can be used for any occasion. The stamp is from Flonzcraft, which I got in today along with a bunch of others I had ordered from them. I love these new stamps! The image is bordered with green quilled scrolls and two orchids. Hope you enjoy it!

Here is the great sketch that I used from Sunday Sketch and Stamp to create this card:

Thank You

I've been knocking out cards left and right for all these challenges. I didnt realize how many challenge blogs I'm subscribed to until I was boggling at the list of challenges I hard written down to make cards for. I would like to say I LOVE all these challenges and have so much fun making cards for them. They definitely help with my creativity.

This card is a simple Thank you card. I used on of my new Flonzcraft stamps I got in today!
To accent the simple card I added some quilled bleeding hearts. Hope you enjoy it!

New Baby Boy Card

I've been busy today. Not only did I get one card done but I did two! Must have been all that time I went through withdrawals while my crafting room was packed up.

The colors for this card was inspired by the color challenge at Play Date Cafe. I love how they are bright and vibrant. I also used the Recipe from Dutch Dare Card Challenge to make this card. I will say the recipe did make things challenging. I usually dont use ribbons, especially not TWO ribbons on a single card. But I did have alot of fun making this one, mostly because the double card layout is a new one for me.

I used a teddy bear digi stamp from Pink Gem Designs. The patterned papers I purchased the baby boy one from Hobby Lobby and it had been just sitting in my stack of papers for months. The other two believe it or not I got in a huge pack of 12x12 patterned papers from Oriental Trading. To finish off the card I quilled simple rattles and safety pins for embellishments.

Well enough blahing from me.. here is the card!

Sexy Valentine Card

Here is a hot Valentine's Day card. It's a simple black and white card with splashes of red. The digi stamp image is from Kenny K Downloads. The curve of the black is where the front of the card ends. The white you see is the inside of the card. To finish off the card I bordered the black with simple quilled hearts.

Happy birthday card

So I finally have my crafting room together after moving. Which means I finally could get back to creating new cards. I still do not have Internet so I'm having to post from the blogger app on my phone, so excuse the pictures since I'm using my phone instead of my new camera.

My newest creation is a masculine-ish card. I used the colors from the color challenge listed below which are: medium brown, caramel brown, vanilla, and kiwi. (These are not the exact color names but you can find them via link below.)
I used my new happy birthday embossing folder and stitched the monkey from pattern I bought before Christmas. A few quilled leaves and a quilled banana as accents to give it a little 3D affect.
